Macro/Close-up Workshop hosted by Pete Whieldon ARPS

This is a rare opportunity to take photos of field mice and frogs in a studio environment.  Studio flash will be available to ensure perfect lighting. Although we trigger the flash with infra red hot shoe triggers it may also be useful to ensure your camera has somewhere to plug in a sync lead.

Your workshop leader is an award winning natural history photographer.  Please be aware the Macro Close-up workshop is currently held away from our Otterbourne site and at a purpose built venue approximately 5 miles from Otterbourne.  The course runs from 10am to 4:00pm Monday – Sunday.

The group size is limited by the available studio space but talk to us if you want to bring a larger group.

This workshops includes tuition in setting up studio lighting, camera technique, using props and animal management.  This is a very informative and fun workshop.

Spent a whole day with Pete, photographing his frogs and harvest mice. Pete is exceptionally experienced and knowledgeable about macro photography and has a great love for his subjects; he’s also just a great, friendly guy. Pete kindly setup all the lighting for our workshop during the previous evening. Most of the day was spent indoors working with the frogs, including those difficult jumping action images. After that we shot the mice inside and then took them outside to catch the last of the evening sun. Nothing was too much for Pete, including regular supplies of hot drinks and biscuits. It was a pleasure to work with him and I came away with some great shots. I was so impressed I booked his kingfisher hide, which was also great. High recommended.

I have been to a macro workshop set up by Pete to photograph frogs. The effort he puts in to make sure that you get great shots is unbelievable, I have also attended the night time owl photography session which is fantastic. This is a family run business and they all go the extra mile to ensure the experience at any of the workshops is memorable. I cannot recommend PWP highly enough.
